competent judges of how the
local revenue should be
expended on objects of purely local and municipal concern,
and in which no
Imperial
interests are at stake.

Under the circumstances
mentioned above, I do not intend,
at present, to propose to the
-alteration
Colonial Legislature any in the scale of the salaries
referred to in this despatch;__
unless;
unless, indeed, I should receive
specific instructions to that effect; in which case, I shall, of
loyally carry out Your
course,
